Oh, Amsterdam.

Ever since I first visited this wonderful city, a small part of my heart has been stuck here. I just loved the architecture, the vibe of the city, the people. So I went back three times and every time liked it a bit more. And then I visited other cities in the Netherlands and Belgium and thought: “Hold on. ALL those places are astonishingly beautiful!” So I was sceptical on how I’d feel about Amsterdam when traveling there again, as - in my eyes - it might just have lost a bit of its magic.

So in September, on our first wedding anniversary, we went there. And fell in love with the city all over again. It hasn’t changed much in the more than ten years I hadn’t been and the guy loved it just as much as me (it was his first time there). So it definitely won’t be the last time visiting the most beautiful city in Europe.

While there, I met up with Amber and Sjoerd who met in New Zealand, got married in the US and now live in the Netherlands for a after-wedding-shoot. Since Amber’s dress was still in the US, the wonderfully talented Marieke from Iek’s Bridal in Amsterdam lent us one of her breathtaking creations. She’s a bridal fashion designer and has SUCH. GORGEOUS. DRESSES!!! It was hard picking just one for our shoot but when Amber tried on the one she’s wearing in the photos I instantly knew: This is it. It fit her amazingly, suited her type and fit with the laid-back city-vibe I was going for in the pictures.

Amber, Sjoerd and I met up in the early morning hours and felt like we had the city all to ourselves. It was kind of chilly at the time but Amber was a total champ and took the cold amazingly. She and Sjoerd are so freaking cute together, they sometimes felt like absolute newlyweds and I am truly happy we found each other. Guys, I wish you all the best for your future together! Travel to beautiful places, love and enjoy each other like you’re doing right now and add tons of special memories to the ones you’ve already made.
