The Villa Seerose at the shore of Lake Zurich is one of the more popular places to get married in Northern Switzerland. Especially, since civil ceremonies often take place in drab office buildings. This 18th-century-villa with its stunning park makes for a stark contrast: The regal stairway inside makes you feel like you’re in an episode of Bridgerton while the outside invites you to stroll along and just relax.

Despite all this, I had never had a wedding here before. So when Seda and Özgür told me they’d picked this beautiful setting for their wedding, I was excited. Moreso because I had met Seda before - we both played volleyball in the same club. Albeit only knowing her briefly, I knew her as this cheery, always optimistic and happy person so I couldn’t fathom how happy she must be as a bride. And she proved me right: Seda was grinning from ear-to-ear on her wedding day and it was just so beautiful seeing how happy she and Özgür were even before the ceremony had even taken place.

They had opted for a small, civil ceremony with only their closest family in Zurich and would do a bigger celebration at a later point.

We met up before the ceremony for a couple’s shoot and both Seda and Özgür were adamant that they are “not photogenic at all”. Which - I can assure you - is absolute bollocks ;) If you are happy and if you can relax in front of the camera, let me assure you that every single one of you is photogenic! Trust your photographer and they’ll make sure you’ll recognize only the best sides of you on your wedding photos.

I’m happy to say that even Seda and Özgür changed their opinion after receiving their images and that they now know what I’ve been saying: that they’re absolutely stunning people - both inside and out :)
