This May wedding was actually the first sunny day we had in over a month! And it wasn’t just sunny, the temperatures almost made it feel like summer. Fabienne and Matthias had picked the perfect day for their civil ceremony at Schloss Bümpliz in Bern.

The two of them and I met up an hour before the ceremony for their first look and some bridal portraits and although we had only met virtually before it felt as if we had known each other for ages. Both Fabienne and Matthias were absolutely relaxed and even a bit goofy, which is amazing, because very often people have reservations to show their authentic sides during a shoot. But that’s honestly the best thing you can do - be yourselves and then you’ll love your photos even more!

After a short ceremony where I had to remain seated (but didn’t for the kiss and exchanging of rings, shhhh) the guests who weren’t allowed to enter welcomed the newlyweds with bubbles and applause. It was so emotional and lots of fun to finally see people hugging and relaxing again.

Before long, we continued on to the breathtaking Schloss Münchenwiler, and although I didn’t know it before it must now be one of my favorite wedding venues in all of Switzerland. The castle is also a hotel and although it’s close to the town of Murten it’s a bit isolated, quiet and all in all absolutely dreamy.

Fabienne and Matthias opted to have their dinner there but before I was done for the day I just had to steal them away for some photos. I mean a happy couple in such a beautiful location? I just had to. And then we were even gifted with the most amazing light. I thoroughly enjoyed this wedding and the few hours I was there simply flew by.

Fabienne and Matthias, I really hope we meet again, I had an absolute blast photographing your wedding and I wish you only the best for the future. Auguri!
